Morgan & Stefan - Malibu/Santa Monica wedding

Every cloud in the coastal sky parted for this amazing couple on a gorgeous day in July. Morgan and Stefan were all smiles from the day we met them to the day they said "I do". Brought to us by the lovely Cassandra Santor, every detail was perfection. We all just swooned over these two and insisted on making sure everything was perfect.

Although Chicago is where they will plant their roots, they held their wedding ceremony in the gorgeous chapel at the place where they met and fell in love, Pepperdine University in Malibu, followed by a stunning reception at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.

One of the best bouquet hand off's ever.... Morgan cried, then I cried, then Cassandra cried....

Then onto the Fairmont Miramar where the festivities continued at the venue's new Santa Monica hotspot The Bungalow.

And into the reception...Soft, romantic, pillowy blooms of hydrangea, "cafe au lait" dahlias, "Juliet" garden roses, and orchids overflowed from milky white vesels both high and low. Candles lit up the tabletops while crystal chandeliers glistened from above.

CONGRATULATIONS HOLTS!!

Origami Dreamin'

It's hard to not smile as this whimsical new trend is delicately making its way in weddings and magical fĂȘtes across the land! Origami, a traditional japanese art form which started in the 17th century, is now becoming reinvented as a true modern art form. The crane in particular, is believed to bring good luck & happiness for those that receive them - so why not have hundreds of them fluttering around on your wedding day??

Do not misunderstand, we are in no way suggesting that such delicate little beauties can replace your fresh florals, but we are slightly giddy at the thought of blending the two mediums, playing on the bright delicious colors and patterns and really elevating the entire experience!

Whether incorporated into your escort card display, added as a fluttering chandelier over your tabletops, or tucked inside each napkin treatment, these little jewels will be the talk of the party.

OK, ok, so this next bit of images may not exactly pass as "origami" but we couldnt stop oodling at this amazing feature by Green Wedding Shoes where the winter vibe was captured in an awning of...wait for it...marshmallows. Sigh....

Fall in Love....

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

It's Raining, It's Pouring...It's Christmas!

'Tis the season for holiday parties - and lucky us, we have the best clients that allow us to flex our holiday mistletoe! Here's a taste of one of our favorite installations of the season.

Nestled in the Pacific Palisades (and with the rain not letting up here in Los Angeles), we adorned the entryway foyer with red ilex berries which stood in Japanese style vases, surrounding a magnificent display of 'winter wonderland' white florals: pillows of white hydrangea and roses with touches of magnolia leaves, berzilia, hypericum berry, and silvery dusty miller.

Inspired by only the finest pages of Sunset Magazine (and the latest episode of Brothers & Sisters) our client Gail mentioned her love for magnolia leaves and winter whites - and we took it from there! Both the mantle and the dining room chandelier were the centerpieces for the evenings' festivities. Using fresh holiday garland mixed in with some rustic magnolia, we adorned the fireplace mantle, accenting the needles with several varieties of white orchids - perfect for welcoming Santa down any chimney!

The chandelier, also draped with mixed holiday greens, created a visual floating wreath. Strategically placed fresh orchids evoked that hint of winter white as the sweet smell of Christmas air filled the room!

Wishing you all fresh blooms in your stockings this year! 2011...here we come!
